Well...this one is super special. Not only is Amy the hands behind the snuggly animals of The Little Yarn Barn, but she happens to be my best friend. Amy has had a knack for crafting since high school. I specifically remember her becoming obsessed with knitting when we both learned in 12th grade. While I made my one required scarf and quickly moved on, Amy’s passion never dwindled and she continued to fall in love with yarn. She later picked up a crochet hook after her first daughter was born in 2016 and never turned back.
We personally have two items from The Little Yarn Barn that my own kids absolutely adore. Nash has a little fox that he calls his “snuggle” and LeeAnn’s has had a handmade blanket from Amy since before she was born. The time and energy that goes into each of her items is seriously incredible. Knowing that someone's actual hands are behind each and every stitch of these animals make them priceless.
As the interest in Amy’s talents increased she opened up an Etsy shop to share her animals with people worldwide. (Visit her shop here!) The uniqueness of the designs AND the fact that she has the ability to create custom orders are what set her apart .
During our time together we got to gather all of Amy’s current inventory “friends” together for a big group picture, and I was also able to capture her in her element. Whether it be tying a final tag on an animal before delivery, crocheting a bow or putting the animal all together at the end...I got to see it all!
As a wife, mama to two precious little girls, and a business owner this lady has her hands full (literally)! If you know of anyone who is a parent, a parent to be, or knows a child (which is basically anyone) share The Little Yarn Barn with them! A handmade plush animal is such a unique and thoughtful gift than can be passed down for generations to come.
